Last week I received email from two classmates from a course I attended last year. The latter was an acting class centred in Hamlet. It was an investigation class, so there was a lot of reading and improvised work on our characters. As you can possibly imagine, I worked on Ophelia.
But I'm moving away from my point. Back to it, then. The first email was from a classmate who also played Ophelia, so we worked closely together. She wanted to know how my life was going, about my trip to NY, if there was a chance that we take classes together again... I wasn't expecting email of this sort at all.
The second email was from an actress who played Gertrude, who is now working on a play by Strindberg which opens soon. It was basically an invitation to the play, but it was directed to me specifically (as oposed to the classic mass mailing).
Neither of these classmates is a friend, so I'm glad that they make a point of staying in touch with me and that they want to work with me again and see my work. It may appear to be something small to blog about, but those really made my day when I received them.
Note: I forgot to mention that I was also invited to join the ensamble in a musical! That was from the choreographer with whom I worked on The Rocky Horror Show last year. She is now working in another play and invited the whole cast of Rocky... to participate. I had to decline because of scheduling conflicts, but once again, it is a great joy that people want to work with me again!
