I went to the play, and I must say, it is really, really good!! It is living proof that serious social issues can be treated comically, without compromising the message. Hilarious and shocking at times, the play is very well performed by the four actors, who convey an ample range of emotions and present characters with multiple layers. The characters are deeply flawed, and yet lovable; perhaps all the more because of their obvious imperfections. The play has good rythm, and the mise-en- scéne is interesting too.
The play deals with issues such as illegal immigration, racism, cultural differences, love, and loyalty, among others. The story is surprising, somewhat absurd at times, ironical, violent, and yet somehow, in the end, you feel good about it. Amusing and thought provoking don't necessarily go hand in hand, but in this case, they do.
There are only four performances left, so, to those who can, I strongly recommend that you see it. Tickets cost $18, which as far as I know is pretty accessible for NYC. This is the first time I go to the theatre in this city, and I'm more than satisfied. Would see again!
